Outdoor Kitchen Equipment - Cooking A Better Meal

Edited by M. B. Aria

In this article, we look at the pieces of the outdoor kitchen equipment puzzle you need to put together to start cooking better meals ...

Begin the design process for your outside kitchen by figuring out what kind of outdoor kitchen equipment you want to utilize. If you are able to make these decisions ahead of time, it will allow you to incorporate the proper spacing and dimensions into your final design. Not only will this save you time, but it will also most likely save you money, as your contractor won't have to do things twice to make your outdoor kitchen equipment fit properly.

The first piece of outdoor kitchen equipment that you need to select is your grill. This will be the centerpiece of your outside kitchen and everything else should be planned around this piece. Not to many years ago, one could honestly say that a grill was just a grill. You could just choose one and be happy that your neighbor's was no better than yours was. That is no longer true. There is a massive span between the high and low quality grills that are being manufactured today. Everything from construction material, color, cooking surface, and fuel source must be taken into consideration. Don't underestimate the number of details that there are in choosing an outdoor kitchen grill.

Another element of your outdoor kitchen equipment that you need to seriously consider is the addition of side burners. These are a key element to you outside kitchen if you don't want to spend time running back and forth inside to cook a complete meal. The side burners run on the same fuel source as the grill itself and allow you to cook with pots and pans in the exact same way that you would on the stove inside. These really complement the grill's cooking surface in a wonderful way. If you are tired of cooking just your meat outside and are ready to cook your entire meal outside, then side burners are necessary.

The final piece to the outdoor kitchen equipment puzzle that you are putting together is a warming drawer. A warming drawer allows you to keep food warm until you are ready to serve the entire meal. More often than not, things that you cook on the grill require different cooking times. Some steaks may be thicker than others may and some folks may prefer their meat rare while others like it well done. The bottom line is that you need a place to keep the things that are already done while the rest of the meal finishes cooking. A warming drawer is the perfect answer to this problem. Never serve cold food again.

If you are able to incorporate these three types of outdoor kitchen equipment into your design then you will be well on your way to having an entertainment area that is the envy of all of your neighbors. Each of these plays a key role in the success of the meals that you produce in your custom outdoor kitchen. As your skills and entertainment needs evolve, you can always add more equipment to increase your efficiency and to further express your personal style.
