A home theater system may be best for you if you want entertainment and relaxation at home after a long day's work. If you are one of those busy executives who wants to relax after a long day of work by watching movies but hate traffic jams, setting up a home theater may be what is best for you. A home theater is still considered a luxury for many people, as not many people can afford to bring the theatrical experience home.

Knowing the basic components of a home theater setup, including home theater furniture, may help you plan and recreate the experience of a movie theater in your own home, and help you and your family enjoy this modern form of entertainment right in your own living room.

Basic home theatre furniture such as home theater chairs and a television cabinet are good for a quality home theater set up and are two of the basic home theater furniture components that you may want to research carefully before buying. Home theater seating is a major consideration. The television cabinet is a secondary consideration of your home theater furniture. Adding other home theater furniture will give more life to your home theater system, but this depends on the size of your living room.

You may want to consider hiring the consulting services of a professional home theater consultant if you have bigger room for your home theater system. They will be able to advise you on the power rating requirements and speaker requirements of your home theater system, such as whether you need an amplifier or other home theater furniture.

Home theater furniture, however, is the icing on the cake. The three essential components of the home theater system you need to focus most of your attention on to begin with, are the television set, the speakers and the DVD player.

Even for a small living room, the size of the television set should not be less than 27 inches. You may not want to watch a movie in a very small screen. Twenty-seven inches and above is necessary to acquire the big screen experience for a small room.

Concerning the speakers, you will need at least three speakers for a small sized living room. If you have a bigger room for the home theater set up, you may add up to six speakers.

For an extremely big room, a subwoofer may be needed to compliment the six speakers in order to help you achieve the proper surround sound effect for your home theater.

The DVD player is also important aspect to consider. A DVD Player with progressive scan is better because of its sharp images and flicker-free performance. You may want to consider adding other equipment like a home theater projector. For bigger rooms, you may even want to add a home theater projection screen.
